Description

Cattle fence is a type of livestock fencing. As the name suggests, it's used to enclose cattle and other livestock. It can be used to separate livestock, preventing them from escaping and harming them. Cattle fence is primarily made of wire because of its high strength, durability, and low cost. While it can withstand impacts from livestock, care must be taken to avoid scratching the cattle. It's a popular choice for large ranches. Considering cattle are large animals, we have specific fence height requirements during production. For adult cattle, a height of 1.2-1.5 meters is required to prevent them from climbing or jumping with their front limbs while standing. For young cattle, the height can be lowered, but for long-term use, a height suitable for adult cattle is recommended.

How should we choose cattle fence for small ranches?

Small ranches may be more concerned with price and therefore prefer materials with the best value for money.

1. Wire Mesh

Its main advantages are low cost and excellent permeability, allowing for excellent observation of cattle movements. Its light weight and flexible installation make it suitable for large areas. However, when choosing a fence, consider rust resistance for outdoor use. Galvanized wire is recommended, and mesh sizes can be customized to meet your needs.

2. PVC Plastic

Small ranches that prioritize aesthetics and durability often opt for PVC-coated cattle netting. PVC is corrosion-resistant and UV-resistant, and its smooth surface and light weight provide a long service life, making it highly cost-effective. However, caution is advised as it can become brittle in low-temperature environments, so its use in low-temperature environments is not recommended.

How to choose Cattle fence?

Anyone who has used cattle fence knows that smaller mesh sizes and denser material consumption increase the price. Mesh size not only affects price but also safety, functionality, and suitability. Therefore, when selecting a net, we should consider the cattle's appearance, age, and breeding purpose. The specific selection method is as follows:

1. Calves

Newborn calves are small, with fragile heads and limbs. They are unfamiliar with the external environment and may escape. Therefore, we recommend using a mesh size of 10cmx10cm square holes or less to prevent escape and protect the calves from injury.

2. Adult Cattle

Adult cattle are heavier and have greater impact force. Therefore, the primary function of a cattle fence is protection. A mesh size of 30 cm or less is recommended to prevent collisions with adult cattle.

Using cattle nets in hot and rainy environments

If using cattle fence in hot and rainy environments, consider corrosion resistance, ventilation and moisture permeability, and structural strength, and optimize the configuration based on pasture management needs. Specific key points are as follows:

1. Material and Craftsmanship

Hot-dip galvanizing is preferred, with a zinc layer ≥ 85μm, to ensure a service life of over 10 years.

2. Wire Diameter and Mesh

High-temperature areas with frequent cattle activity require higher impact resistance. The mesh should also be ventilated and escape-proof.

‌For long-term use, monthly inspections of the cattle fence surface tension and rust spots are recommended, with timely repairs. Quarterly flushing with a high-pressure water jet ensures a clean and aesthetically pleasing appearance.
