Screw piles are an effective foundation reinforcement component widely used in buildings, bridges, and temporary projects. Their operation requires strict adherence to technical specifications to ensure construction quality and safety.
During the construction preparation phase, the site must be leveled and cleared of debris and obstructions. The pile location must be determined according to the design drawings and accurately marked using measuring instruments. The specifications and model of the screw pile must be checked to ensure compliance with requirements, and the pile surface is free of cracks or deformation. The supporting driving equipment (such as a hydraulic hammer or auger) must be prepared.
During the installation process, the screw pile must first be aligned with the designated location and maintained vertically. If the static pressure method is used, the static pile driver must slowly press down, controlling the speed to avoid tilting the pile. If the driving method is used, the rotating power head drives the pile's spiral blades into the soil, applying torque evenly throughout the process to ensure the pile sinks vertically. Construction personnel must monitor the verticality of the pile shaft in real time, ensuring that deviations do not exceed the design tolerance (typically 1%).
During quality control, the penetration depth, torque value, and verticality of each pile must be recorded and compared with the design parameters. If hard soil or obstacles prevent the pile from sinking properly, operations must be suspended and the cause analyzed. If necessary, the pile position should be adjusted or pilot holes should be used to assist construction.
Safety precautions include: Operators must wear protective equipment; hydraulic system and electrical circuit safety must be checked before operation; overhead work is prohibited when the pile is not secured; and warning signs should be posted in the construction area to prevent unauthorized access.
Through standardized operating procedures and strict quality control, screw pile construction can be completed efficiently and ensure the long-term stability of the foundation.
