Straining Binding Wire

Straining binding wire is primarily used to bundle and secure objects. Its effectiveness directly impacts the object's stability and safety. For lightweight objects, thin wire is recommended, while for heavier objects, high-strength galvanized wire is recommended to prevent breakage. High-quality tensioning wire offers excellent tensile strength and weather resistance.

Description

When selecting, ensure it covers the circumference of the object being tied and allows for sufficient tension. However, be aware that excessively thin wire can be easily cut by sharp objects, while excessively thick wire can be inflexible and difficult to manipulate. Adjust the wire accordingly based on the surface smoothness of the object.

How is the tie wire tightened?

During use, straining binding wire can be tightened manually or with tools. The specific situation requires analysis:

  • Manual Tightening: For cylindrical objects, cross-wrap the wire to increase friction and prevent slippage. For rectangular objects, use parallel wrapping and diagonal tightening to ensure even force. Wear gloves when tightening the wire. After cutting, bend the ends to prevent cuts.
  • Tool-Assisted Tightening: Avoid pulling or tugging hard when using tools, especially with galvanized tie wire. Excessive force may cause the zinc coating to fall off, affecting its corrosion resistance.

Different application environments affect straining binding wire

High-temperature environments

Temperatures >200°C will affect the strength of the straining binding wire, as the zinc coating produced by the galvanizing process softens and peels at temperatures above 100°C, losing its corrosion protection.

Low-temperature environments

For low-temperature environments, it is recommended to choose low-temperature-resistant materials, such as low-alloy steel or 304 stainless steel, which can maintain good toughness at -40°C. However, these materials will also be more expensive.

Corrosive environments

Strict zinc coating thickness is required. If long-term use is required, zinc alloys can provide better results.

Check the quality of the tensioning wire after completing the work

After completing the tightening work, don't just leave the straining binding wire unattended; inspect its quality:

1

Integrity: Visually inspect the zinc coating for peeling, bulging, cracking, and burrs and mechanical damage caused during operation.

2

Loosening Prevention: Manually shake the binding area to confirm there is no movement or unusual noise, and that the conductors and cable are securely fastened.

3

Environmental Adaptability: In high-humidity areas, check for rust pits. In acidic and alkaline environments, verify the integrity of the epoxy coating. For long-term use in harsh environments, the inspection frequency should be reduced.
